More than a year ago Erica Sandelin and I discussed the possibility of founding an organization under the Student Association at Stockholm School of Economics. We envisioned an organization that would engage students in thoughts and activities that would broaden their perspectives of the surrounding world. We hoped to achieve this through fascinating lectures (we were, and are, both deeply amazed by TED), workshops and other activities that were uninfluenced by sponsoring companies (a phenomenon that is more than common at SSE). Our firm conviction was that the best way to stimulate people to widen their horizons, be open to new ideas, as well as forming a long lasting interest in social issues was through inspiring them. And so, we formed the Inspiration Group.
Almost one year has past since the group came together for the first time: Erica Sandelin, Johannes Källgren, Alexandra Kenne, Jonatan Danemo, Carl Waldenor, me, and recently, Katalin Bachry, Sofia Mårshagen and David Falk. Together we have, over the past year:
Co-organized the Good Morning 2019 workshop with SSES.
Installed five recycle stations at SSE (all the money from the recycling are invested in the Hunger Project).
Organized a cinema-screening of the documentary Bananas!* followed by a seminar with the maker of the movie, Fredrik Gerten, accompanied by a member of the Swedish parliament, Luciano Astudillo.
And coming up… a lecture with professor Hans Rosling and CEO of the Hunger Project Sweden Åsa Skogström Feldt the 10th of March. Hope to see you all there!
Today we made our first investment in The Hunger Project! (Hungerprojektet)
A couple of months ago we put up containers around the school to gather recycling cans. The purpose with these is to raise money for The Hunger Project at the same time as we deal with a problem at the school (the non-existing recycling system).
In december last year we emptied these containers for the first time, but we havn’t gotten around to transfering the money until now. But today we made our first “investment” in The Hunger Project through their site Jordens Bästa Affärsidé (only available in Swedish for the moment) where you are able to start your own fund raiser for THP.
This round generated 400 SEK, but we’re just getting started! Feel free to challenge us!
You can find our specific fundraiser here, and see how much we’ve raised so far.
